Re: Adding disk to a cluster
the basic idea is for a Normal SG package running to be down for a disk to be added.
1) if you are having Online JFS and will be using the disk to Increase one of the LVs of the VGs that is not going to create a New LV or a new VG and assign the same to the Cluster Package, That can be done with the package up and running on one node. But make sure that after adding the VG, the map file for that VG should be updated on all the nodes at least which are the failover node for that package.
2)If you are not having ONline JFS and/or going to extend an LV using that disk, the package shall need to be down and make sure that the map file after adding disk is updated on all the package failover nodes.
3)If you are going to add the disk and do not have Online JFS and/or Creating new LVs or VGs using that disk, the package needs to be down as you shall be ading the entries for new LVs and mount points in the Package control file.
Make Sure that after disk addition to the VG of the package:
1)the new mount points are also created on all the failover nodes for that packcage.
2)the Changes if made to the control file pf the package to miunt new LVs, the control files should all be consistent among the Primary noded as well as the failover nodes.
3)make sure that after the addition of the PV to the VG of the package, the map file for the affetced VGs and import os that VG using that map file is always done on all the nodes that are the failover nodes for the package.
4)Always test the package after a change made to the package by starting on the failover nodes also.
