AdvFS Domain Panic

Hi,
I couldnot able to access a file system. The messages displayed in /var/adm/messages is given below. Can any one provide a solution to overcome the issue.

An AdvFS domain panic has occurred due to either a metadata write error or an internal incon
sistency. This domain is being rendered inaccessible.

Rgs,
Surya.

Re: AdvFS Domain Panic

Hi Surya,

One common cause of a domain panic is if there's a hardware fault on a disk in the domain...

Check which disks are in the domain with "showfdmn "

Then take a look at the status of the disks with one of the "hwmgr" commands.

hwmgr view device
hwmgr show scsi -full

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Re: AdvFS Domain Panic

Rob is right most of the time it is because of h/w failure.See if disk belong to this domain is available.
ls -lRt /etc/fdmns

Next is it mirrored(LSM).See if there is any curruption in LSM.volprint -thA

Is it cluster?????
more info required........

Re: AdvFS Domain Panic

Hi Kapil,

Yes its 3node cluster running oracle applications.Recently MMB card has been replaced in the 3rd node. And it was working fine for more than 12 hrs.As an immediate solution we tried rebooting the primary node and we were able to access the file system. The problem faced initially was given below.
1.we were not able to access the contents of the application directory. It has thrown I/O error.
Now it is working fine. Can you give me some more info to check the consistency of the servers.

Rgs,
Surya.

Re: AdvFS Domain Panic

Rob,

Thanks for the support. All the disks are valid. How to find the root cause for the problem.

Re: AdvFS Domain Panic

DO you mean to say file system is accessible after reboot of 3rd server.Did you check if all the disk were accessible???
ls -lRt /etc/fdmns
I can see this possibility of "not recognising disk" only.

Regarding consentency of server just see some weired messages in messages file, evmlogs or may be errlog file.

Hope this help.

Re: AdvFS Domain Panic

Only the primary node was rebooted after that we were able to acess all the file system in all nodes.

Re: AdvFS Domain Panic

Binary.errlog file would definetly help.
Please open a h/w case and see what this files says.
You answer must be lying in this file.
