Alpaha DS25 not responding

hello
my alpha ds25 crashed shows the message "init command is respawning too rapidely check for possible errors "
and stop there
i have not access to the >>> or # cli and can not enter any command
after the boot process initiated i got a message like this "ccb request completed with an error
error exception or abnormal condition
MEDIUM ERROR unrecoverable medium error "
it clearly confirm a loss of one hard disk drive but i can't gain access any more to the machine.
I want to re install the tru 64 platform
so how can i boot from CD and perform the installation

you mean to say u can not access or do not have access to >>> prompt,
You may have to hardboot it and jump to >>> prompt to check if there is any hardware fault, do not rush to reinstall (only if you have to)

Hi,
Easy way to install Tru64 on an alpha is to use a graphics term - I'm guessing you are using a serial which = pain!
Hook up a graphics term set console variable
>>> set console g
>>> init
You need init for it to take effect and then install away.
Ser back to serial when you have completed install:
>>> set console s
>>> init

what is the error you getting, keep the window small while editing disklabel.

thank you friend I recovered my system
successfully
but i need to restore my applications which need some specific file systems and advfs domains to be created also
but i still have a problem with LSM (logical storage manager)
when I try to run the voldiskadm I get this message :
"LSM is not currently ebnabled on the voldiskadm menu system"
and when I runde bcheckrc command I get errors like this "exec : /sbin/monut advfs -f 0x4000 #savecase .....
lsm:volio illegal vminor encountred .....
is an invalid device or cannot be opened "

How you trying to get your filesystem back are you using vgimport ??
