BL460c PSP - VMware

I have installed PSP 8.25 to a Win2003-32 server that sits directly on a BL460c blade. Should the PSP also be deployed to Win2003-32 servers that sit on Virtual Server hosts which are run on other BL460c's?

Re: BL460c PSP - VMware

Shalom,

PSP should be installed to the host OS.

If the virtual hosts have need of certain drivers and software for PSP, it may be installed in the vmware hosts.

I've never tried that myself. I've only found a need to install PSP in the host OS.

Re: BL460c PSP - VMware

There is no PSP for VMware. Most of the drivers that are normally in the PSP are not delivered directly by HP but through the VMware-provided media and updates. Only a management package is delivered by HP and it is not in PSP format.

A PSP is only valid for a physical ProLiant as it supports the hardware. Inside a virtual machine the "hardware" is synthetic, and the PSP drivers, utilities and agents do not apply.
