CDE on 11.31

I installed it off the DVD, but still no luck

# swlist -l product CDE*
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "xxxx"...
#
# Target: xxxx:/
#

CDE B.11.31 HP-UX CDE User Interface
#

When I go to then Auto-Start it:

#/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e

I have no /usr/dt/bin directory

# ll /usr/dt
total 16
dr-xr-xr-x 3 bin bin 96 Aug 5 17:21 config
dr-xr-xr-x 5 bin bin 8192 Aug 17 15:13 lib
#

Re: CDE on 11.31

Shalom,

Edit this file:
/etc/rc.config.d/xfs
Set the start variable to 1

/sbin/init.d/xfs start

By default, xfs, X Windows Font Server does not auto start with the OS.

You need to do this yourself.

Re: CDE on 11.31

OK, did that. Didn't seem to help any. I noticed on both my 11.23 the swlist gives me:

CDE-English B.11.23.0409 English CDE Environment
CDE-English.CDE B.11.23 HP-UX CDE User Interface

Do I need the CDE Environment too? Definitely makes sense, seems like a stupid question actually, but where do I get it? I don't find it on the DVDs.

Re: CDE on 11.31

Yeah, I've looked at 1179333, but I find no CDE- on CD/DVD 1, just 'CDE' which is the user interface.

Re: CDE on 11.31

Well, I found the CDE Environment bundle finally on DVD #2.

However, now when I run /usr/dt/bin/Xsession nothing happens and .dt/startlog states:

--- /usr/dt/bin/Xsession starting...
--- Xsession started by sh
--- setting font path...
/usr/bin/X11/xset: unable to open display ""

--- starting /usr/dt/bin/dtappgather &
--- execing /usr/dt/bin/dtsession ...
not sourcing //.profile (see //.dtprofile)

Is there more I need to do?

Maybe you need to set your DISPLAY first.

Re: CDE on 11.31

The required product is
CDE-English B.11.31 English CDE Environment

after installing the bundle run

/usr/sbin/dtlogin.rc start
