CIFS 1.09 and window server 2008

Currently running A.01.09 which is mounted to a W2K3 server. Now I have to create a mount to a W2K8 server. Can I continue to use my current cifs sw or do I have to upgrade to A.02.02? This is my first attempt at doing CIFS and everything I find is on A.02.02.

I have, on the HPUX box have a directory off of root /Vpfile01/SAPR3 and the windows server is \\vpfile01\SAPR3 It would think it would be pretty much straight forward.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Charles

According to HP "HP CIFS Server A.02.04.01 supports the Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista operating systems."

You can get the software from this link:

Hope both these help

Keith,

thanks for the info, but that references "Server" and I'm looking for "Client".

Re: CIFS 1.09 and window server 2008

But you are using the CIFS server s/w on the HP-UX box to share-out the SAP mount?

Re: CIFS 1.09 and window server 2008

Keith,

From the UNIX box, through the mount point on it, we write TO the windows file system. People can then retrieve the information from the windows systems for their work.

Re: CIFS 1.09 and window server 2008

Shalom,

CIFS 1.0.9 will not work.

The current version of CIFS will work, though for full integration some amount of patching would be needed on the Windows Server side.

Re: CIFS 1.09 and window server 2008

Steven,

I have downloaded the server software from above but I am apprehensive about installing it fearing that it will mess up what is currently working. do I simply go through a swinstall of the product and should what I have working still work, or will it break what is currently working with the w2k3 server. Shutdown the current CIFS first I presume.

Re: CIFS 1.09 and window server 2008

Chris, I now understand that this mount is in the opposite direction and I guess you are replacing the Windows server where the mount is configured? Thanks for clarifying that.

Do you have the original depot file for 1.09 (it may have been on an earlier HP-UX DVD set)? CIFS client appears to be self contained without dependencies so I would backup the CIFS config first and then install the updated client. If this screws things, swremove the client, re-install the 1.09 depot and replace your config file.

Hope that helps.

Re: CIFS 1.09 and window server 2008

Keith -
I DOUBT that we have the sw for version 1.09.

I DL'd the 2.04.01 sw and tried going through and swinstall... unfortunately it comes up with the following error which I can find nothing about.

The corequisite "LdapUxClient.LDAP-C-SDK,r>=B.03.20.%" for
fileset "CIFS-Server.CIFS-ADMIN,r=A.02.04a" cannot be
successfully resolved.
ERROR: The dependencies for fileset
"CIFS-Server.CIFS-ADMIN,r=A.02.04a" cannot be resolved (see
previous lines).

I';ve searched through the swdepot but nothing was found.
