CIFS Server on HPUX 11iv2 host

I running CIFS server A.02.03.04 on 11iv2 host.
Functionally things are fine but have a question. What is the purpose/use of the username.map file?

Ive applied change to the smb.conf over time but never addressed the use of this file.

Re: CIFS Server on HPUX 11iv2 host

All NT ids are mapped to the same unix id via username.map

Suppose if you have a username in NT called "Test_user", which have to access the UNIX using CIFS, you can map this id to some existing UNIX user id. You need to enter the info as follows. e.g if your UNIX user id will be "admin", your map file will be

Test_user = admin

Hope this clarifies.
