CIFS error
if i remove WINS server this will happen to user when they login CIFS. please advice . refer the attachment file capture screen.

Shalom,
Your Samba/CIFS network, probably controlled by a Windows Domain controller uses WINS/Netbios for handling short names.
It can be configured not to do that however the response you are getting is exactly the normal response.
Prior to doing the change, the domain controller needs to be configured to NOT use WINS.

Shalom,
This is a Windows problem if you are using a windows PDC, Primary Domain Controller.
It would be best to post to the windows forum for the answer.
On the CIFS side, its just a matter of commenting out the netbios information in smb.conf and restarting the service.
