CPU is busy by terminal

Hello,

When I close terminal with double click or Window -> close(dtterm) the top utility indicates that the %CPU is about 11%-13% and the %WCPU is about 34%.

Also this simple task takes few seconds.

HP-UX (C-8000, B.11.11)

Please advice

Yali

Does it say what process is using the CPU?  And if it finishes in a few seconds, why worry?

Re: CPU is busy by terminal

The process that is using by the CPU is dtterm.

The worry comes from the users' complains. Actually, they are right - this simple task should end within less then a second and not used so many CPU resources.

You might try attaching with tusc before you close the window and see what it's doing.

Is your wtmp file too large?

I don't know what you mean in this sentence but /var/adm/wtmp was too large.

Thank you on behalf of the users :)

tusc is a system call tracing tool.  It could tell you what calls you are doing and how long they take.

Or the fact it is opening wtmp and doing lots of I/O.

You can download it from:
