Can't Umount Business Copy Snapshot
After deleting the failed snapshots and recreating/presenting them (to get rid of the hanging bdf) We now have several Mounted File systems with I/O Errors.
bdf: /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/sredo: I/O error
bdf: /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/redo: I/O error
bdf: /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/ctlfile_2: I/O error
bdf: /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/ctlfile_1: I/O error
Any suggestions on how to unmount them without rebooting ?
Tried umount and vxumount
orion# umount /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/ctlfile_1
umount: cannot unmount /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/ctlfile_1 : I/O error
umount: return error 1.
orion# /sbin/fs/vxfs/vxumount -o force /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/ctlfile_1
vxfs vxumount: cannot set force unmount for /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/ctlfile_1: I/O error
Also tried removing entries from /etc/fstab and renaming /etc/mnttab and intiiating a mount -a
Nothing seems to allow me to get rid of these file systems
Please Help !!!!

Re: Can't Umount Business Copy Snapshot
umount -f isn't an option at our current level - I just tried it.
I also tried editing the mnttab directly and removing the affected file system and it would disappear from bdf briefly but the mount point would then re-appear after a few seconds with the same error.

Re: Can't Umount Business Copy Snapshot
Hmm, PHKL_31500 says it provides that option.
>I also tried editing the mnttab directly
mnttab is a write only file from the kernel's standpoint, it's only for humans.

Re: Can't Umount Business Copy Snapshot
orion# swlist -v | grep 31500
contents PHKL_31500,r=1.0,a=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA/PA,v=HP
contents PHKL_31500,r=1.0,a=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA/PA,v=HP
contents PHKL_31500,r=1.0,a=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA/PA,v=HP
contents PHKL_31500,r=1.0,a=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA/PA,v=HP
contents PHKL_31500,r=1.0,a=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA/PA,v=HP
But when I try the umount -f I get :
orion# umount -f /u02/oradata/PERFTEST/ctlfile_1
usage: umount [-V] [-v] { special | directory }
umount [-F FStype] [-v] -a
umount: return error 1.

Re: Can't Umount Business Copy Snapshot
We had a similar problem with 11iv2 and PHKL_31500 uninstalled - either way, we needed to reboot the machine (patch requires a reboot too)
Unix operates with beer.
