Re: Can we convert HP physical server to HP VM?
I believe you have misunderstood my question.
What I want is, I would like HP-UX OS running on HP physical server to HP VM.
Is it possible?

Re: Can we convert HP physical server to HP VM?
You can convert a physical HP-UX server to HPVM.
If you want to convert an 11.11 host, you need a PA-RISC host to handle that.
Everything else will work fine, IA-64 to IA-64.
Where I think there may be difficulties is trying to use Ignite to take an PA-RISC image to IA-64. I'm not sure that will work, though I won't rule it out.

Re: Can we convert HP physical server to HP VM?
You can't use HPVM for PA. You can only run the applications using Aries, possibly under HPVM.

It won't work, unless you just want it to copy the data.

Re: Can we convert HP physical server to HP VM?
You can not move PA-RISC as HPVM runs only on integrity.
Install HPVM on new server create a HPVM and install with ignite of the server, after that you can move or present the disks to this new VM-Host and assign to VM and do some LVM stuff and you get your data back on new virtual server.
Hope this would help.

Re: Can we convert HP physical server to HP VM?
Yes you are correct, I am looking for physical to virtual conversion utility for HP-UX.
That is I would like to convert HP-UX OS running on physical server to virtual environment (HPVM) as one virtual machine.
It is like P2V.
I have some questions:
1)I need to know the release details of HPVM and its supporting HP-UX OS version for virtual machine.
2)HPVM4.0 and 4.1 supports only HP-UX 11iv2 and HP-UX 11iv3 to be installed on virtual machine, am i correct?
3)We can not install HP-UX 10.20, 11.00 and 11.11 install on any one the of versions of HPVM, am i correct?
4)Can we do P2V on HPVM?
5)Can we convert physical server running HP-UX 11iv2 and HP-UX 11iv3 to HPVM as virtual machine?
6)Can we convert physical server running HP-UX 10.20, 11.00 and 11.11 to HPVM as virtual machine?
