I am moving to a newer Tru64UNIX system. On the new environment I have installed Tru64UNIX v5.1B.
Will I be able to set up and configure the network, and make it active before I register my licenses?
Is there a document anywhere that lists what functionality does not work without the base licenses?
Thanks
Andrew

Why not just do that? (Or run the
experiment?)

Re: Clean installation of Tru64UNIX v5.1B - will the network work before I register the licenses
It is a long story.
This project forms part of a Proof of Concept. If it is successful the license will be purchased, but the client wants to test. The only licenses we have are on another server in the license database. He does not have any record of the hardcopy documents.
I have installed Tr64UNIX, but the network does not work. I thought this maybe a license restriction, but I can find no informatin to substantiate this.
Thanks for your response.

Solution> hardcopy documents.
Fear not. I've done it only on VMS, but the
concepts should be portable.
Find the license data base
("/usr/var/adm/lmf"?), and make a copy (so
you won't disturb the history of the real
one).
Attack the copy using "lmf -d
which, as the "man" page says, "Issues a
reconstructed PAK for the product [...]".
As I recall (on VMS), doing this to a copy
does not bother the running system, but you
might be wise to be ready to re-enable ("lmf
enable") and/or re-load ("lmf load")
everything, just in case. "man lmf" has the
details.
