Colorado 8GB Tape drive Drivers

I need to get hold of the drivers for the Colorado 8GB Tape Drive or some means of getting it to work. What can I use ?

Re: Colorado 8GB Tape drive Drivers

What type tape drive is inside?

Give me the product number (probably starts
with an "A" or "C" followed by 4 numbers
and one or two more letters).

I am using the DDS2 and DDS3 type drives
to do backups and they work fine out of
the box.

The only problem I run into is if I backup
the drive I booted from, when it trys to
backup , it gets a SCSI error.

Re: Colorado 8GB Tape drive Drivers

Hi Nik;

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm using the
DDS's on SCSI and don't know what drivers
you will need for IDE.

As far as backup utilities, I use .
I backup each partition by itself so if I
ever have to recover one it will be alot
less work and time.

tonyp

Re: Colorado 8GB Tape drive Drivers

I don't have specific linux knowledge - but the Travan drive is an extension of the QIC-80 format (they made the cartridge goofy shaped to hold more tape...) and so you can try some of these older tape drivers.

There may be some specific issues that require an up to date driver, but I suspect one of the older divers will at least allow you to put data to tape (and maybe even get it back off...)

Of course you should test, test, and test some more...

Good Luck.
Omniback and NT problems? double check name resolution, DNS/HOSTS...
