Re: Command fcmsutil

Did you assign "raw" disks, LVOLS or files???

hpvmstatus (per guest) will tell you.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Shalom,

Not exactly straightforward it seems:

Now if you look at the logical volume assigned to the system and then go to the host OS you can from ioscan output and fcmsutil show what is attached.

Then you look at the vgdisplay output and you can figure out what fiber card is being used.

However guests do not get exclusive access to the fiber cards. They get access to resources given to them by the hpvm manager.

It is quite possible to take two luns off the same fiber card and assign them to two virtual guests.

Re: Command fcmsutil

I think fc is not assigned to Virtual host, its just disks which are assigned.
So you would not be able to get any status of fc from ioscan in guest.

Remember when you create a new VM you don assign fc card anywhere :)

Re: Command fcmsutil

From guest config:

disk scsi 0 4 0 6 0 disk /dev/rdsk/c41t7d5
disk scsi 0 4 0 7 0 lv /dev/vgeccLogR1/rlveccLogR11

So you use raw disks and LVOLs as virtual disks.

I assume the host is on 11.31 or 11.23 with multipath, you can be sure all FC HBAs are used for load balancing.

Now use ioscan and vgdisplay from HPVMhost to get the connection details.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Command fcmsutil

from what I understand, all cards chanell Host fiber can be used for any virtual machine???

The problem is this: be assigned to discs from the SAM VMHost and then assign them to the Virtual Machine. I need to know that fiber card uses the Virtual Machine.

Yes, my Operation System is 11.23 HP-UX

Re: Command fcmsutil

As said, you assign disks or lvols or files, but you never assign hba's.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

if disks are allocated from the SAM, I can use any hba's (6 available)
this is correct?

actually installed. does this have any impact with the hba's.
power path installed the operation system is Multipathing?

Re: Command fcmsutil

I don't work with EMCs, but multipathing is used for load balancing in general, hence all available paths (all HBAs) are used.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
