Re: Configuring HP Fibre Channel FCD Mass Storage interface hang

You have the FibrChanl-01 software bundle installed (it may have been installed by default on newer HP-UX releases), and have not taken steps to disable the FCD fibre channel driver initialization at boot time.

The FCD initialization checks if supported FC HBAs are present, and initializes them: it may take a while, but the system should eventually continue the boot process.

To disable the FCD initialization, edit /etc/rc.config.d/fc_fcd_conf. Change "FC_FCD_START=1" to "FC_FCD_START=0".

If the system hangs completely at the FCD initialization step, you should boot the system to single-user mode to make the above-mentioned change.

If the system has no FC HBAs and you have no plans to add them, you might even remove the FibrChanl-01 bundle with "swremove FibrChanl-01". Since this causes a kernel driver to be removed, swremove may require a system reboot immediately after the removal operation completes.

If you need FC HBA support again after removing the bundle, you can re-install it from your OS installation media, or you can download the latest version of the FibrChanl-01 bundle from software.hp.com.
