You can check event.log like this logs, (by default it must be configured to root user)

ls -l /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log

Re: Configuring a syslog server

Hi,

where do you want to hold the data in file or a database like mysql ? i suggest you install syslog-ng, mysql,syslog-php.

Re: Configuring a syslog server

Shalom,

To make detailed recommendations, I would need to see syslog.conf

There are security implications in posting it here.

Two approaches are laid out.

A central syslog server can merely except syslogs from other systems in a big fat ugly file that nobody is going to want to read.

Also possible but needing some tweaking would be an approach where sylog files are transferred to a server and put into a mysql database.

Which approach are you planning on using?

Re: Configuring a syslog server

Thanks for your reply..!!

we are planning to have all logs on diff mount point on the same host for one month and after that we will transfer it to EMC,
As I have few more syslog servers in my infrastructure, however those are from SUN, and the syslog.conf is from sun host, SO I need to correct few mountpoints as we all know directorys structure are bit different from SUN to HP,
