Connecting NIC to switch ports
I have heard some boxes has 2-4 NIC cards having 1 GigaBits per sec speed per NIC.
My question how do we connect these NIC cards to switch? Do we connect individual NIC cards to switch ports or use some special tricks ?
Thanks,
Shiv

Re: Connecting NIC to switch ports
Elaborate your question.?
If you're looking for network link to improve aggregate throughput and load balancing then Check HP APA which is licensed Software.

What I understand you want to use that NIC card which is having GigaBits speed.
well you need to set the speed of you NIC card as well as your Switch port also having the Gigabits ports.
you need to set the speed both, server and switch end and you can connect fiber patch cord or patch cord which is support Gigabits.

Re: Connecting NIC to switch ports
If you want to add up the troughput and also the fail-protection you can connect all those to Switch ports and start using the APA that is Auto Port Aggregation.

Re: Connecting NIC to switch ports
No tricks, just hook them up.
If you plan on using APA, Auto Port Aggregation, special configuration may be required for a Cisco switch.

Re: Connecting NIC to switch ports
You need seperate switch port to connect each Gigabit ethernet cards. Note that switch also should be cabable of supporting 1Gbps speed.
