Console logins

All: I am new to HP-UX and I have an 11.31 C7000 blade enclosure I am attempting to configure. What file in HP-UX 11.31 can I modify to allow users to logon to the console?

Re: Console logins

Michael, Thanks but let me clarify further. my apologies for not doing o originally.

I have insight already configured, and the ILO's are active.

In the HP-UX 11.31 operating system, I noticed there is no /etc/secretty file for allowing and disabling console logins. What file replaced this one for me to add usernames to for console login?

Re: Console logins

Note: Perhaps you are misspelling /etc/securetty. Also note that you make it yourself as it does not come by default.

See man page for login command.

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-60130/login.1.html

# cat /etc/securetty.

console
tty01
ttya1
etc.

Re: Console logins

Hi,

This thread suggests that /etc/securetty is still doing its thing on 11.31.

Re: Console logins

Michael, thank you for your correction on the spelling. I was not aware I had to do this myself. As I said previously I am new to HP-UX and am running blind. Thank you both.
