Hi

connect the printer to machine, issue the command sysconfig, In the printer section you should define the printer (reboot is required)

Previous post is totally out-of-bounds,
sysconfig has nothing to do with it, no reboot required.

Are you talking about a DEClaser 3500 ?
Is it connected via it's LAN option or via the parrallel-port ?

Anyway the command to use is /usr/sbin/lprsetup, it's menu-driven.

If your more into GUI-stuff, make sure the DISPLAY variable is defined and use the command: sysman -accel lprsetup.

Re: Create new Laser Printer definitions - Tru64 5.1A

The printcap entry already exsisted. We had an HP LaserJet 4 connected via the network using a JetDirect. Printing was fine. We upgraded the printer to an HP Color Laser 3500n using a JetDirect and also using the previous IP Address. Now if the printcap has "text" the print job is ignored. If we use "Raw" the printer prints garbage. I can see in printerconfig that there are some printers defined but none are of the later models such as the HP CL3500. I was wondering how to create a new printer definition for printerconfig.
