Creating depot with a codeword

Hi,
I studied the documentation about package creation with swpackage.
In the documentation is the using of codewords with swinstall/swcopy... explained.
But in the chapter about creation of depots there is no more information how to create a depot with a codeword.

What I need is a way to protect a fileset in my depot with a codeword, so that this fileset can only be installed when the customer has the license for it.

Does anyone have an idea how to create an depot with codeword protected filesets?

Thanks

Jens

Re: Creating depot with a codeword

Take a look at:
man 4 sd

There's an object called "is_secure".

No guarantees. But came across it and thought it might apply for what you mention.

Kindest regards,

Other than Rita's is_secure, I have no idea how it works. It is magically done for me by some other group.

If it isn't documented, it may mean only HP can use this functionality.

Re: Creating depot with a codeword

I searched the newest "Software Distributor Administration Guide" http://docs.hp.com/en/5900-0307/5900-0307.pdf
and in this the "is_secure" flag is not mentioned any more. And the swpackage command show an error for the flag.
Looks like it is not possible to create an protected package.

Strange is that the man pages are still showing the "is_secure" flag.

Thank you all for the Help

Re: Creating depot with a codeword

Only HP manufacturing has the ability to create codeword protected content.

My personal recommendation would be to create a serial depot using swpackage(1m):

# swpackage -x media_type=tape ...

The resulting file can then be processed with external encryption tools. You can find some of them at the archive: http://hpux.connect.org.uk/
