DISK ARRAY

Hi ,

I have question of disk array.. Though I don't have so much knowled about disk array. We have 5 Disks 18 GB eag. After making disk array raid level 5., we got total 65 GB. It was created one LUN. Now when I am giving below command it is showing below output.

#/usr/sbin/hpC2400/arrayscan
arrayscan : scanning I/O system for disk arrays....

arrayscan: HP C5447A SCSI Disk Array at SCSI address [ 0/5/0/0.0.0 ]
arrayscan: HP C5447A SCSI Disk Array at SCSI address [ 0/5/0/0.1.0 ]

The above is working fine. But when I am giving below command then it is showing the below error..

# arrayinfo -ar /dev/rdsk/c3t0d0
arrayinfo: initdev - internal error: Not an HP SCSI disk array

I have tried all option of arrayinfo.. But it is hsowing same error. Would u pls tell me hwat I am missiong & if you can then pls tell me good site from where I could know about disk array & LUN..

Re: DISK ARRAY

Hi,

as i see in your ioscan you have an AutoRaid 12H.
So you have used the wrong command to display info. Use instead:
arraydsp [-a] /dev/dsk/c3t0d0
Also if you create a LUN on your AutoRaid it first uses RAID level 1 (mirroring) for the data.

Cheers

Re: DISK ARRAY

Hi,

I see you're using the HP AutoRAID system. I don't know for sure if you are using the 12H with two controllers but if so, you should create your volumes using at least two LUN's to balance the disk-load over both controllers. This will give you a GREAT increase in performance. Also, use the vgextend command to create alternate links for both LUN's so that if one controllers fails the other one will take over the workload.
