DL 380 G3, RH 7.3 and a Smart Array 6400 Advice.

Ok, this current box is a db machine running rh 7.3. The issue at hand is that we want to set the accelerator to start using 50% read and %50 write caching. Currently its set to 100 write and 0 read.

Now in the ACU it advises that you might need to reboot depending on the OS.. also, this is a live box. What effect could this have on a live machine? Basically the mysql db is host to many. Bringing it down is the last thing we'd like to do. Would it be wise to change the caching on the fly? Is it smart enough to react properly while on the fly, being that anything that was in the cache during the change over wasn't lost and would be handled correctly?

Hi Chris,

I'm not shure but I guess that the new configuration will be ready only with a reboot.

Sometimes we cannot runaway from a planned downtime.
