DLT TAPE DRIVE ON HP.11.0

ioscan shows class as Unknown in HP 11.0 for Quantum dlt.Need to install the tape drive , please provide thoughts

Are the device drivers for tape are missing ???

Hello,

Yep probably it's the stape driver that is missing. Go to sam->kernel configuration>drivers
select stape and tape3 or other "tape" driver that are "out", do actions->add driver to kernel
When they are all in select Actions->process a new kernel.
Your server will reboot after this step and your DLT will become CLAIMED.

When i select the module to be loaded in the kernel, It does not rebuild the kernel , it fails which exit code one and giving error /usr/bin/config failed.

post the output of ioscan -fn (only the part of this scsi card related) where the dlt drive is connected .in this case it is 0/12/0/0

I am getting these errors when i do mk_kernel -s /stand/system , just trying to build a test kernel.

hi,

i think you have to add the following drivers.

schgr,sctl,stape,tape2

findout stape is already added to your system.
if all the drivers are configured ,it will automatically create a device file in /dev/rac folder which will be used to control your system through omniback/dataprotector backup software.
