Isn't better to go forward and install centos 5 for example, and keep updating just using yum?

Fedora Core 5 is obsolete and considered Legacy.
Red Hat might release a fix, they might not. If not, you must update the OS to get the fix.
First you need to wait for Red Hat to actually release a BIND patch. I have yet to see them actually do that.

I agree with the recommendation of CentOS for servers for which you can't easily schedule a full OS update.
