Isn't better to go forward and install centos 5 for example, and keep updating just using yum?

Shalom,

Fedora Core 5 is obsolete and considered Legacy.

Red Hat might release a fix, they might not. If not, you must update the OS to get the fix.

First you need to wait for Red Hat to actually release a BIND patch. I have yet to see them actually do that.

See the announce here - http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FSA/FC5:
*** NOTE: Fedora Core 5 reached its End of Life on Friday June 29th, 2007. There will be no further updates for FC-5 after that date. ***

Re: DNS patching on fedora core 5

If you can't update to a later version of Fedora, you could try to build your own rpm packages for BIND for your environment. It's not rocket science, but it is beyond the scope of this forum. If you're going to use unsupported Fedora, it becomes a necessary skill. You could start here: http://www.rpm.org/RPM-HOWTO/

I agree with the recommendation of CentOS for servers for which you can't easily schedule a full OS update.
