DS 15 can't boot, no any output on monitor screen

Hi Everyone,

I have a DS15, it can't boot and there's no any response on OCP and no any output on monitor screen. the led for power and disk keeping blank after press power on button. opened the top cover, found there's no any action on power supply fan and cpu fan ,etc.

After putting a jumper across J22's pins 15 & 16 on motherboard, the led for power and disk chang to green. a few seconds later, the first and third led on OCP change to yellow from blank. After that, looks like 3 beeps and 3 beeps. There's still no any output on monitor screen.

Is there any solutions to resolve this problem?

Thanks !

Sure sounds like a hardware problem to me.
If you have a support contract on the box... use it!

My guess would be bad memory.
If it has 8 memory Dimms, try 4.
If it has 4, try 2 (unless 4 is requires).
Not to run with 1/2, but just to see if it starts.

Did it used to work? What happened/changed? (new modules added?)
Hardware (door) interlock?

I no not have a DS15 guide handy and don't feel like googling... what does J22 supposed to do, and why did you choose to diddle with that?

Stable electricity? (any spikes, brownouts?
Environment issues ( Water damage? Excessive temperatures? high humidity?)

I would certain pull the plug(s) and reseat everything which can reasonably be taken loose and put back: memory, pci cards, cpu?, disks, internal power connectors.
And then try to fire it up again.

Finally... could it be a monitor/keyboard connection issue?

Good luck,

Hein.

Re: DS 15 can't boot, no any output on monitor screen

Dear All,

Thank Hein for your quick reply!

Put a jumper across J22's pins 15 & 16 means the power up will by pass eeprom check.

I run RMC with VT terminal ,pls see attachment "rmc message1.txt". the error report"Power-On Error: Bad CPU EEPROM" when press power on button.

The attachment "rmc message2.txt" was the logfile when put the jumper across J22's pin 15 & 16.

my question is : Can I recovery or update EEPROM ? if yes, how can i do it.

thanks again.

Hmm, that second log shows many Voltage not present (0) and no fans running.
System was still down?

Check out this topic:
Sounds much similar (or is that where you found the jumper setting)

What can you 'say' to the box?
SHOW CONFIG?
SHOW FRU?

Back to those 'Beeps'
According to the Ownerguide that could be:

1-3-3 No usable memory available
