I have a system HP 9000/11.00 and 10.20 and I was just wondering if anyone knows about the Day light saving patch ( which takes effect in melbourne in April 6th 2008).
We would really appreciate!
Regards,

Re: Day light saving for April 2008 in Australia/Melbourne
11.00 and 10.20 aren't supported. You'll need to manually copy the tztab file from 11.31 to these systems.

You mean to say there are no latest patch or they are not supported for HP-UX 11.00 and 10.20 version.

Re: Day light saving for April 2008 in Australia/Melbourne
I meant both but it appears I was wrong. For 11.11 there is this new patch PHCO_37720:
tztab(4) needs to be modified for Australian Daylight Saving changes.
So install PHCO_37720 on your 11.11 machines and then copy /usr/lib/tztab over to your unsupported 11.00 and 11.20 machines.

Re: Day light saving for April 2008 in Australia/Melbourne
DST patch is mandatory when there is chnage in the rule or a known bug is fixed which is applicable to your region.see the patch's bug/fix information.
Also note that even if you can install the patch online it is recommeneded to restart the DB/APP.

Re: Day light saving for April 2008 in Australia/Melbourne
So you are suggesting me that the HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00 are not supported anymore.
So you suggest me to run the patch on 11.11 and copy the tztab file to hp9000 that are running 10.20 and 11.00.

SolutionIf you read through the entries in tztab is is just lookup reference for month, day and year.
An example entry would look like this, last line indicates between the 25-31 day of March years 2007-2038 make time adjustment at 2am.
# Australian DST changes for Australian Capital Territory.
EST-10EDT
0 3 25-31 10 1971-1999 0 EDT-11
0 3 27 8 2000 0-6 EDT-11
0 3 25-31 10 2001-2038 0 EDT-11
0 1 27 2 1972 0-6 EST-10
0 1 1-7 3 1973-1985 0 EST-10
0 1 15-21 3 1986 0 EST-10
0 1 1-7 3 1987-1995 0 EST-10
0 2 25-31 3 1996-2005 0 EST-10
0 2 1-7 4 2006 0 EST-10

Re: Day light saving for April 2008 in Australia/Melbourne
I will compare the tztab file for 11.11 and copy it to 10.20 and 11.0.
