Daylight savings

I have a few 11.23 itanium servers that were setup in April with newer releases of 11.23 - Do you know if I need any patches for Daylight Savings..

Also if I have an ntp server - will my systems automatically change

Re: Daylight savings

Hi Timothy:

The latest 'tztab' patch for 11.23 is: PHCO_39173

You probably have this.

NTP uses UTC and not localtime. Your localtime (or your perception of time) is a positive or negative offset from Universal Time which for UNIX is measured in "Epoch" seconds, or the number of seconds since January 1, 1970.

In HP-UX, the 'TZ' variable holds the timezone value and the standard 'libc' routines perform the necessary conversion. These routines use '/usr/lib/tztab' to find the correct rule for any daylight saving offset and/or the principal offset from UTC. Different users or different processes could elect to use different TZ values if they chose. NTP, and filesystem's metadata track UTC increments only.

Do you need to? Read the patch notes in the Patch Database to see if you should.

By the way, you should also read:
