Default size of Root file systems

Hi Gurus,

While we deploy the system newly, what is the default size would be accomodated by all root VG file systems by default in 11iv1, 11iv2 and 11iv3?

Re: Default size of Root file systems

Hi:

Look at the installation guides for the various releases:

For example, see table 2-1 for 11.31 here:

Re: Default size of Root file systems

Instead of asking the default for / - why not plan on what is appropo for your needs as far as OS VG partitions.

Our STandard for 36 (local SCSI) or 52GB (SAN Boot) are as follows and follow a minimalist partitioning scheme:

/ - 16384 MB
/tmp - 4096MB
/var - Balance of disk
- 8912MB

3rd Party, GNU and other software that install in /usr or /opt and are "NON-STATIC" get their own non-OS Disk filesystems, example:

/usr/local/GNU
/usr/openv
/opt/NAGIOS
/opt/ibm

etc...

We also give the vg00 LVOLS descriptive names like:

/dev/vg00/root - for the / parition instead of /dev/vg00/lvol3

Cheers!
