Device Physical Name shows "Not Visible" for newly added luns in to existing BCV
We have added new luns to the existing BCV device group.
But physical name for the new luns shows "Not visible"
symdev show 1885 |more
Symmetrix ID: 000*********
Device Physical Name : Not Visible
Where as we can see the same information for the existing BCV luns without any problem.
symdev show 22FF |more
Symmetrix ID: 000*******
Device Physical Name : /dev/rdsk/c35t5d0
model
ia64 hp server rx8640
OS:
HP-UX 11.31
Please let me know how to get this physical name with the respective luns
Thanks,
Suresh A

Re: Device Physical Name shows "Not Visible" for newly added luns in to existing BCV
Use SymCli Commands to add DMX Volumes to Servers.
A. Outline
1. Identify HBA WWNs and FA Ports on this Server.
2. Identify un-mapped HVs/MVs available on DMX.
3. Identify addresses available on this FA Port.
4. Use ├в symconfigure├в to assign volumes to FA Port.
5. Update symcfg database.
6. Add access with symmask.
7. Discover on Server.
8. Add to PowerPath Database
# symcfg discover
# insf
# sympd -sid xxxx display | grep 1885

Re: Device Physical Name shows "Not Visible" for newly added luns in to existing BCV
Thanks for your response..
But i think you gave me the steps that is for storage provisioning...Correct me if i am wrong
Actually, we configured the new luns in to existing BCV setup (We were able to see the luns, configured & BCV happening successfully so far.)
But when i run
symdg show "device group name"
it returns like

You can able to see the newly added luns from BCV61 to 69 with no device file name.
I want this to be updated with device file name instead of N/A
Thanks,
Suresh A
