Re: Devices are in SCAN state

Can you remove the SCAN devices using
#rmsf -H

and try running #ioscan -fn
#insf -e

Re: Devices are in SCAN state

SCAN means there is another ioscan running (maybe hung?).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Devices are in SCAN state

Hi Torsten

I can see that around six ioscan processes are running in the system. tried killing them using kill -9 and it didn't work.

Thanks

Re: Devices are in SCAN state

Rebooting is the only way to clear this. After rebooting do not run ioscan. Check the process listing and see if there is an ioscan that is already running and has not completed. The "SCAN" state is normal in some environments with a lot of SAN devices but it goes away within a couple of minutes. In your case with local devices it is not normal, there is something wrong in bus 10, this looks like the core i/o in a K-series server.
