Disk failure notification.

Hi All,
I need to notify a user if there are any disk failures found in the Linux system. I am using 5.2 Red Hat Linux.

I guess smartctl can be used, but somehow can't get this working.

Please let me know if anyone has an idea regarding the same.

Thanks!

Re: Disk failure notification.

If your server is Proliant, you can install the proliant support pack (PSP). This package contains the insight agents that monitors the hardware and can notify failures.

If your server is another brand, consult the provider for a similar software.
