Re: Disk management in HPUX11i v3
So only integrity servers are having three partitions on root disk but not PA-RISC?

Re: Disk management in HPUX11i v3
Hi (again):
> So only integrity servers are having three partitions on root disk but not PA-RISC?
That's correct. Slice (partition) #2 is for HP-UX. An Itanium boot disk is partitioned with the 'idisk' utility.
Regards!

Re: Disk management in HPUX11i v3
>> I have two questions:
I count some more ...
1) So you are telling that in integrity servers, the disks will be shown as /dev/disk/disk3 not as /dev/dsk/cXtXdX.
but in PA-RISC, it will be shown as /dev/dsk/cXtXdX
No, both can show you the "old" and "new" style!
e.g.
# ioscan -fn
vs.
# ioscan -fN
or better
# ioscan -m dsf
2) The three partitions (p1, p2 and p3) are created automatically while installing new OS?
Yes they are.
3)How to see the size of the P1 and P3 from hpux (with in OS).
Witch idisk or diskinfo
4)LVM concept in 11.31 is same as 11.11?
Yes and no. LVM v1 is pretty much the same, LVM v2.x is newer with more features and new limits.
5)can we use /dev/rdisk/disk2 instead /dev/disk/disk2 (it is being used in my server) to create a PV?
pvcreate is always requiring the "r"aw device
6)in integrity can i use /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0 to create a PV?
Yes for data, no for boot disks.
The boot disk is always partition 2!
e.g.
/dev/dsk/c1t2d3s2
or
/dev/disk/disk2_p2
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
