Does HP-UX have a logrotate file

Does HP-UX have a logrotate file (simmilar to Linux)? If yes does anyone know where the logrotate file is located?

Re: Does HP-UX have a logrotate file

There is the SAM utility with logfile cleanup utility that will cleanup some current logfiles and put old info in OLD.
But SAM is being obsoleced and the utility to trim logfiles is gone on newer O/S versions.

The replacement for SAM is SMH and it does not have a utility for log cleanup.

Strictly third party vendor may have something, or a script to cleanup and rotate old info into a logfile is your other option(s). Do a search for SAM trim logfiles here and see what other folks have posted.

The logrotate utility is what is generally recommended. It is available here:

The version at the Porting & Archive Centre works. A couple of caveats... it was built and packaged for 11.00 so requires forced installation on newer platforms, if I remember correctly. It also does not have many of the nicer features you may be accustomed to working with the newer versions in Linux. It's better than nothing, however.
