Does a fsck on GFS have any performance benefits?

Does a fsck on GFS have any performance benefits?

I am being told to run a gfs_fsck on gfs b/c of a performance issue w/ the file system.   It could be my pea brain, but I've only used fsck w/ file system integrity issue.   Is there any performance benefit?  

 

Any insight would be appreciated.

Any explanation why this will help?

Unless there is some kind of magic or more details, I would have to agree with you.
