DynamicRootDisk DRD
I beleive there are two mirrored disks in VG00. The user plans to patch the server soon and wants to use DRD. I am thinking that we dont need DRD as we have mirrored disk. Can you please tell me if I am correct in suggesting to break the mirror while patching...instead of using DRD

Well, in that case you need to shutdown, remove 1 disk, boot up, patch, reboot again.
If all works, insert the pulled disk again.
If fail, shutdown, remove the disk, insert the first removed disk, boot and insert the second disk again.
With DRD you just clone the VG00, patch it and do a single reboot.
If something goes wrong, just boot the original disk.
DRD is the better option.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DynamicRootDisk DRD
Thank you.
There are two fc ports being used by EMC SAN.
EMC doesnt support 11.23 march 2007 version apparently.
So cannot use SAN disk for DRD.
I found SCSI Ultra320 A6961-60011 in rp4440 and
SCSI C1010 Ultra160 Wide LVD in rp3440
Suggested the user to find a external scsi disk drive, connect it to the SCSI Ultra320 A6961-60011 in rp4440 and do the DRD.
Or
go for lvsplit
