EMS Event Notification - CRITICAL

This week, my backup fails and i got these logs on HP-UX 11i:

------ EMS Event Notification ------ Value: "CRITICAL (5)" for Resource: "/storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/0_1_1_1.2.0" (Threshold: >= " 3") Execute the following command to obtain event details: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 201392130 -r /storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/0_1_1_1.2.0 -n 201392136 -a

Monday and Wednesday backup is failed while tuesday is OK. Ive executed the command says in the logs but didnt gave me enough details.
Anyone knows whats the cause of this error?

Re: EMS Event Notification - CRITICAL

Looks like issues with the tape drive.

It could be a bad tape. The drive could need cleaning. The tape drive itself could be going bad.

What did the resdata command say?

Re: EMS Event Notification - CRITICAL

You should check /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log. Then you can see the detail information about what the problem is.

Re: EMS Event Notification - CRITICAL

Hi,

Once you recive alert, after executed the command, will show you the HW_ Path

you can perform,

ioscan -fnC tape or ioscan -fnH /0/1/1/1/2

Once device claimed, But still you recieve the alerts occastionaly,

You can the check "tape drive " powersupply,
"Cleaning the tape drivr"
you CSTM , to diagnose the "tape drive"

Thx,
Johnson
