EMS Question

We have an RP4440 server and we are getting an ems alert for a long time:

Aug 25 22:41:25 dswdhpt1 EMS [2761]: ------ EMS Event Notification ------ Value: "CRITICAL (5)" for Resource: "/system/events/ia64_corehw/core_hw" (Thresh
old: >= " 3") Execute the following command to obtain event details: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 180944898 -r /system/events/ia64_corehw/core_hw -n 1809449
17 тАУa

I have checked that there is no problem with the power supply. So probably it is a false alert.

I have two questions in this regard:

1- Is there any way to disable this alert. I have heard you can disable it from GSP console.

2- 2- I have also noticed that the architecture of the server is Risc based:
# model
9000/800/rp4440

But in the alert description, it says /system/events/ia64_corehw/core_hw. IA64 is for Itanium or RX based servers. And this server is RP or Risc based. Is there any thing conflicting here or we have the wrong version of ems installed on this server.

Re: EMS Question

Shalom,

Interesting point on the ia64 issue.

I'd say removing Online Diagnostics and EMS and re-installing is a good idea.

Re: EMS Question

Hi:

Isn't this a continuation of your earlier thread?

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1358531

The fact that you have an rpxxxx server with the string "ia64_core" in the error message appears to be meaningless.

I'd follow Torsten's advice. There is no need to uninstall/reinstall anything. This isn't Windoz.

Re: EMS Question

Hi,

I remember i had same issue. This happend only when you upgrade online diagnostic. In my case i resolved this by downgrading the online diagnostic. This was the problem only with specific version of online diagnostic tool.

Interestingly for same issue i did followed HP advice to reset gsp and other recommendation but did not help.

finally downgrading online diagnostic to orginal version solve this problem.

Re: EMS Question

Instead of talking about downgrade to a totally unsupported version consider an update!

This monitor also runs on RISC servers, even if the name suggests something different:
