ERROR: There are more than 5 physical volumes (disks) specified.

I have a HP-UX B.11.00, with external storage 200gb and another 108gb harddisk.

the default space is 36gb, so that, i want to add a another 308gb.

but after create all the filesystem, there is an error come out
"ERROR: There are more than 5 physical volumes (disks) specified for volume group "vg00". You must either remove physical volumes or increase the "Maximum Physical Volumes" parameter in the "Modify Volume Group Parameters" screen.

so i change the Volume Group Parameters
"
Group Name: vg00
Max Phys Vols: 5
Max Phys Exts: 15368
Max Vols: 255
Phys Ext Size(MB): 256
"

for your information, there is 20 filesystem need to be create and all in "vg00".

what is this error, is there any mistakes that i've been done.

Re: ERROR: There are more than 5 physical volumes (disks) specified.

So how many PV's ARE there in VG00??
strings /etc/lvmtab
or
vgdisplay -v vg00 and look how many PV's are there.

If more than 5, you need to do as the message says, and increase that number#

Hi

Change the Max Phys Vols parameter in your volume group.

Re: ERROR: There are more than 5 physical volumes (disks) specified.

I had change it to 2, 4 until 5 but the error still same. Why the problem comes up exactly?.

But if i proceed with a default space, this error did not occur.

Hi,

You're on Installation Menu, you must have finished the installation by now, but for future referrence :-)

As the informational message says to go to "Modify" tab and remove the Physical Volumes.

You should be good with 2 disks in vg00 if going for OS-Mirror as well.

You can add other disks after system installation finishes in other Volume Groups (other than vg00 ; Lets not clutter vg00 by having a lot of disks)

>>>>I have a HP-UX B.11.00,
Why not HPUX 11.11 installation or the later ones, hmmm unless you're reproducing the same env.

Re: ERROR: There are more than 5 physical volumes (disks) specified.

Actually i want to create all the file system in vg00. There is about 20 filesystem that i should create and the size also big.

So, how can i create it if i can't add all disk that i have.

Is there any another way?
