Re: ES40 interval auto reboot

Hi,

I've not been able to read the attachment.

However, reboots that occur with nothing being logged, either in /var/adm/messages or the binary error log, are frequently as a result of environmental issues...

Is your ES40 getting too hot ?

Cheers,

Rob

Re: ES40 interval auto reboot

thank
no hot
in messages no error message
/var/adm/binary.errlog wsea the analysis also found no porblems
i woule like to know that there is no other way to test error.
I console also had a test and sys_exer.
no problem.

Re: ES40 interval auto reboot

If this is V5, you could try checking the EVM log leading up to one of the reboots. These are located in /var/evm/evmlog, and you could read them with a command like:

# evmshow -t "@timestamp [@priority] @@" evmlog.20081007 > somefile

Then look at the messages in the output file leading up to the time of reboot.

Is anything logged on the console before these reboots happen? If you don't know, it might be worth hooking up something to the serial port and running the console there to capture the output.

Re: ES40 interval auto reboot

Hi
suggestion:
1.connect serial port for monitor and get console log
2.test memory in P00>>> about two hours
3.swap cpu and memory slot for monitor
4.P00>>>show power

Re: ES40 interval auto reboot

EVM is strictly a V5 feature, you don't have it in V4 and there's no way to install it.

I doubt you're going to find a clue from the logs. The suggestions to monitor the console output and check on the environment seem like the best ideas.

Is the power source clean (UPS)? I've seen the occasional reboot caused by transient power variations.

Re: ES40 interval auto reboot

You could look in the files under /var/adm/syslog.dated for some possible clues, as well as /var/adm/messages and the binary.errlog file. (Use wsea to translate this.) You might find something in one of them, but there's no guarantee.
