EVA 5000 virtual disk migration from rhel 3.7 to centos 5.4 servers

Hi guys,

I have virtual disks that I currently have assigned to RHEL 3.7 server as VolumeGroups(LVM). Now we are in the process of updating these servers to Centos 5.4. As we update the servers I want to assign the same virutal disks to the Centos Server in the same LVM VG format. How do I assign the disks without having to reformat these virtual disks and the fear of losing data. If some one can lay out the steps that would be nice.

Shalom,

If I understand your question right. You are wanting to migrate the disks from a CentOS 3.7 system to a CentOS 5.4 system. They are lvm

vgexport the volume group on 3.7

Make sure the disks are presented to the 5.4 system. Then vgimport them.

The man page is actually pretty good in RHEL for this process.

Re: EVA 5000 virtual disk migration from rhel 3.7 to centos 5.4 servers

Would this VG IMPORT & VGEXPORT work on Virtual disks that are created on HP EVA SAN and presented through fiber HBA. Are there are any examples that would give a better idea of how to go about doing these?

Thanks,
