Enable to view devices

Hi all,

Recently we rebooted DS20E machine and our storage (with HSZ70 controller). After the startup, 1 of our file system (data0_domain#dsk14c) failed to mount on the server. When I issue the command hwmgr -view devices, there's no dsk14 found.

This disk is on external storage, I cannot see any problem with the disk.

What is the next step I need to perform? Thanks!

If the disk does not appear in the "hwmgr
-view devices" list, some people would
consider that to be seeing a problem with the
disk.

Is that AdvFS volume the only thing on that
disk? ("/sbin/advfs/advscan -a -g".)

Hi, thanks for the reply.

When is run /sbin/advfs/advscan -a -g, Can't open device /dev/rdisk/dsk14a error message appear.

But when I connect a serial cable to HSZ70 controller, all the disk are in good condition.

And you know this how?

Incredible as it may seem, it's often more
helpful to report exactly what you did, and
exactly what happened when you did it, than
it is to provide your interpretation of what
happened when you performed some mystery
action (like "connect a serial cable").
Remember, if you knew what you were doing,
you wouldn't be asking questions here.

It's easily possible for a SCSI disk drive to
be able to respond to a simple query about
its identity, while being completely unable
to do any I/O with the disk itself. I don't
know, but Tru64 might need to see a partition
table (which is stored on the disk) before it
will admit to the existence of a disk device
in this context.

So far, I don't know what "hwmgr -view
devices" said, what the device configuration
on the SCSI bus is, which physical device
("Location") dsk14 might be (or be expected
to be), or any other info which might enable
any response which might rise above utter
guesswork.
