Existence of a couple of files in 11.31

Could someone who has CDE installed on an HP-UX 11.31 system tell me if /etc/rc.config.d/tps and /etc/rc.config.d/pd exist? I'm trying to figure out which CIS CAT test failures are legitimate and which are the result of inapproriate checks that no longer apply to the latest release of the OS. (e.g. checking for NIS+ set to start when NIS+ no longer exists in the OS). If those files don't exist with CDE, it would also be helpful to know if there are any other CDE-related files in /etc/rc.config.d that contain printer daemon startup settings. We have CDE removed on all of our systems so it'd be rather time-consuming to install a base OS on a spare system to check this.

Re: Existence of a couple of files in 11.31

Hi Jeff, /etc/rc.config.d/tps still exist on 11.31 but not /etc/rc.config.d/pd. Files involved with tps according to tpsconfig man pages: /etc/X11/X(n)printers X print server configuration file that indicates what printers are associated with a particular X print server with display number n. /etc/rc.config.d/tps This file determines what X print servers are to be started at boot time . /etc/dt/config/$LANG/sys.resources This file contains a resource that identifies the X print servers that are available to a user wishing to print running under the locale $LANG. The X resource management tools are used to access and make changes to this file. These tools do not preserve comments added manually to the file. /var/dt/XPserver:(n).err This file contains a log of all errors from the X print server started on the local machine with display number n. This file is deleted and recreated at system boot time. The file is deleted when the -r option to tpsconfig is executed against the local X print server with display number n. /var/dt/dtpdmd.(n).log This file contains diagnostic and error information generated by the dtpdmd process run in conjunction with the X server on the local machine with display number n. This file is deleted and recreated at system boot time. This file is deleted when the -r option to tpsconfig is executed against the local X print server with display number n. /etc/X11/Xstart Whenever we configure a print server in a machine which contains both XFree86 Xserver and the traditional HP Xserver, this file is created, if it's not present before. This file is updated with the Xhp print server entries, while configuring the print servers. Similarly the print server entries are removed while removing the print servers. Also when a user attempts to start a print server on a particular display, this file is checked and the print server is started only when an Xhp entry is found against the display number on which the print server is started.
