Exporting Display of an HP9000 Server to an HP9000 Workstation

Does anyone know how you can easily export the CDE environment from an HP9000 server to an HP9000 workstation?

I have an rp4440 with no graphics head. I have a b2600 workstation that I want to use as a CDE console. How would I go about accessing the rp4440's CDE environment with the workstation?

Thanks!

From your workstation:

1) In a window on the workstation: 'xhost + 1.2.3.4' or 'xhost + sysname' where 1.2.3.4 is the IP of the rp4440 or sysname is the system name of the rp4440
2) telnet or ssh to rp4440
3) At the prompt on the rp4440: 'export DISPLAY=1.2.3.4:0.0' or 'export DISPLAY=sysname' here 1.2.3.4 is the IP of the rp4440 or sysname is the system name of the rp4440
4) Now invoke any GUI tools.

Hi,

It can be achived with both above mentioned procedures. But it is not really worth to use a B2600 workstation as a CDE console, as now a days there are many very cheap solutions available through which you can use normal desktops/laptops as graphical console.

These products include Exceed/X manager and all. If not even that you can use a linux PC without anything extra as a graphical console.

This is just a share of ideas. Choice is yours.
