Exporting users from one machine to another
I know how to transfer user data, but I also need to transfer user settings and credentials. I know about /etc/passwd, but but I have realized there is more to it than that.
Can someone direct me on how to do this?

Re: Exporting users from one machine to another
when the new system is "empty" you can simply copy the lines from the old passwd to the new.
also do this for the /etc/group file
users thus will have the same UID on the new system, so when restoring the user directories (after adding the lines to the passwd file), the protection on the new system wil allso be correctly restored using this uid.
