Hi Feljav,

Provide the following info

Where is your /opt filesystem. Is it seperate
filesystem? is it coming in the root vg?
Check whether online jfs is installed

thanks.

Re: Extent /opt

Hi,

Assuming you are using a default installation, this are the step you need to take:

- restart the server into single user mode
- extend the logical volume: # lvextend -L /dev/vg00/lvol4
- extend the filesystem: # extendfs /dev/vg00/rlvol4
- mount to test the new size: # mount /opt
- restart the server again

Sandy

Re: Extent /opt

do a bdf. find out the vg of /opt/ and then send a

vidisplay -v vg_group_name.

If you have online jfs the you can do it on the fly otherwise you need to bring the machine to single user mode and then do that.

Re: Extent /opt

Please check with swlist command to know you have online jfs or not.

if you have online jfs you can do this command:
1. Check the lvol name for /opt with bdf command example: /dev/vg00/lvol6 from 4 GB to be 6 GB
2. lvextend -L 6000 /dev/vg00/lvol6
3. fsadm -b 6000M /opt
4 check from bdf, the size for /opt already extend.

if you don't have Online JFS, i think sandy's step is the right one.

You can use online JFS if you purchase it. or go into single user mode and extend the logical volume as stated (Sandy) above. You can use the ignite tape to extend the filesystem.
