External Scsi Bus Reset detected
Hi Guys,
I've setup with an HP Engineer 2 rp2470s with a shared storage using a DS2300 in Split Bus mode for an Oracle 9iRAC installation (Test Setup).
The SCSI adapter card used is a dual port card. As per HP recommendations, SCSI Ids on the cards have been modified to enable communication with DS2300 which will is in Split Bus mode.
The HP engineer asked us to ignore it since it may be caused by any atomatic Bus reset and as in the statement of the mptconfig logs .. were supposed to be able to ignore it. I need confirmation on that.
Its realy strange since the the Start Stop command is issued on any random disk at random intervals . even when there is no activity on the system being that the system is still not released for public use.
I have been looking at Firmware versions as a cause for the same. but its all very mixed up anwayys.. any suggestions...

Re: External Scsi Bus Reset detected
Hi Victor,
Have you checked the output of the command:
/opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 128385044 -r /storage/events/disks/default/0_4_0_0.12.0 -n 128385040 -a
/opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 128385050 -r /storage/events/disks/default/0_4_0_1.0.0 -n 128385044 -a
When you run the commands above it will give you a possible reason what could be wrong or not.

Re: External Scsi Bus Reset detected
Hi Darrel,
I did check the output of those commands, they return the same output as in the mail.log. just one by one. So .. what u see above in the syslog is like a compressed format of the mail.log.. i am attaching the mail.log for your reference ...please review and advise...

Re: External Scsi Bus Reset detected
Victor,
Sorry I missed your attachment.
According to the SCSI sense code your box needs attention, check the complete list of codes:
http://docs.hp.com/en/J6373-90008/apas01.html#ciadehfd
I would suggest the following:
# Run a patch assesment:
https://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/assessSystemsPage.do?BC=main|
# Install the latest STM version:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE
# When the above is done Contact your HP-Support, if the problem still occurs.
GoodLuck
