HP-UX 11.23 supports only USB 1.1, which is much slower: the maximum theoretical data rate is only 12 Mbits/s, or about 1.43 MB/s.
In practice, since the USB protocol is far from 100% efficient, the sustained long-term data rate can be even less than that: Wikipedia says the maximum effective transfer speed for USB 1.1 is about 7 Mbits/s, or about 880 KB/s.
Originally the USB drivers for HP-UX were designed to allow the use of USB keyboards and mice only, so the USB 1.1 driver implementation might not be as efficient as possible.

Re: External USB Drive Copying very slow
11.23 can do USB 1.1 only.
Try to copy the DVD on your PC, than use FTP or whatever to transfer.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Hope this helps!
