FC link speed 2Gb but HBA is 4GB

One of our HBA is 4GB but the fcmsutil link speed is showing 2 GB. We checked with SAN team they told we need to change the speed fron Unix side then they will change the speed at the switch .Using the fcmsutil is it possible to chnage the HBA speed

Hope You can't do "Change the Speed" speed settings are hardcoded into the configuration file.

Check Below thread

Re: FC link speed 2Gb but HBA is 4GB

The SAN Team, would have told you that you check the issue by using "fcmsutil" command,

Double confirm with "SAN" does Speed settings are correct from "Switch & Sotrage" side,???

Hence Speed are hard coded by "Firmware of the Fc_Card"

so you can try "disbale and enable" your fc_Card -> make_sure you umount_file_system,deactivate you VG"

or

try to upgrade your "Fc_Card" firmware version

Re: FC link speed 2Gb but HBA is 4GB

all HP-UX FC cards auto-negotiate their link speed. So if the card as auto-neg'd to 2Gb its because the switch port its connected to is set to 2Gb. What model switch is it attached to? Is your SAN team sure that switch is a 4Gb switch?

Re: FC link speed 2Gb but HBA is 4GB

Hi,

Give the output of fcmsutil to the storage team and say there are no possibility to change the same from OS end. They have to do something from their side, may be a firmware upgrade.

Re: FC link speed 2Gb but HBA is 4GB

AFAIK this will be valid only until next reboot - so it isn't a long term solution.

Hope this helps!
