Hi Again,

Login failed.<<<
Did you checked the file /etc/ftpd/ftpusers and the new user name is exist on that file?
If that file doesn't exist or doesn't have new username on it, create /etc/shells and put the user login shell as I have mentioned..

Login to the server
# cat /etc/passwd| grep slubbe
Add that shell in /etc/shells
Its better you create a /etc/shells files and add the lines as told by Mr. Ganesh above.
