FibreChannel-00 Updates

I recently patched a system expecting to get updates for the FibreChannel driver, but after reviewing swlist I still have the old driver. I can download the updated driver, but only in a .depot format. Is it not available as a standard patch and that is why the patch bundle did not include it? Should the quality pack have included it? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi:

The updated software isn't delivered as a patch. It is a product. You can certainly 'swcopy' it along with patches into a depot for one installation. Otherwise, simply install the Fibrechannel product from the downloaded depot.

Problems get fixed with patches.

New driver software is delivered as a depot.

Download and swinstall, or take it off the new Core OS DVD.

I should add that if you want to update key products (like drivers) _and_ patches in one operation, order a current Operating Environment DVD for your release and use 'update-ux'. See:
